Dr. Matthew Sherwood began his investment management career at Morgan Stanley, and has managed capital at Access Global Partners (Sr. Portfolio Manager), The Schonfeld Group (Portfolio Manager), Ivy Strategy (Chief Strategist), and $3Bn AUM MMBB Financial Services (Director, Public Markets’ Investments). Sherwood received an academic scholarship to Liberty University through the Honors Program, where he graduated summa cum laude in an accelerate three years. He also walked on Liberty’s Division 1 Football team and began MBA coursework during the Spring semester of his third year (Junior year). After obtaining his Master of Business Administration In Finance with Honors, he obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Business Administration from Northcentral where he received the Presidential Award Scholarship and graduated with Honors. Sherwood has guest lectured at The King’s College and Columbia University on ESG investment strategy.
Sherwood’s background includes trading commodities markets, ESG strategy, alpha-generating impact investing, and operating regulatory-compliant businesses. Sherwood is seasoned at trading derivatives within the oil & gas markets and is passionate about the carbon credit asset class.
Sherwood’s research focus has led him to publish, “Establishing ESG as Risk Premia” (JoIM, 2018) and he authored the first-ever textbook on ESG Investing, “Responsible Investing: An Introduction to Environmental, Social, and Governance Investments,” (Routledge). Sherwood’s subject matter expertise in the carbon credits markets has allowed him to identify asymmetrical opportunities within the asset class, the catalysts for capturing significant alpha, and risk mitigation strategies.
Andrew DeVito, COO, is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience navigating complex regulatory landscapes, including as an Operations Manager and Sr. Directorate Manager for various Military Treatment Facilities, and as COO for an SEC registered and FINRA member company. DeVito has a strong foundation in regulatory compliance within asset management, healthcare, and financial sectors.
Prior to Pothos Partners LLC, Mr. DeVito led critical operations in threat intelligence and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) across a range of industries. Throughout his 20+ years in the U.S. Army he quickly advanced through positions involving critical and timely deployment of healthcare operational capacity within complex environments. His final position was as a Senior Directorate Manager, overseeing the operations of a diverse range of professional medical practices in the largest Directorate for a D.C. area hospital that boasted federal judges, Congressmen, and the VP as beneficiaries.
His deep understanding of data security enables him to create robust risk mitigation strategies. Mr. DeVito holds a B.S. in Cyber Security from American Military University, where he excelled academically and was invited to the Epsilon Pi Tau honor society, where he was elected as the Vice-President and Secretary for his local chapter.
